1489706 2022-12-14 02:26:00 I do not often playback music on my PC, usually it is videos. I have fiddled with the new Windows 11 Media Player Program to play a single track, well and good. However, if I have a list of music in a folder, I cannot get the program to auto play all songs, I have to start each individually.

Videos I can get to play by using the Film & TV app and it has three dots bottom R corner that allows options including auto play. The new Win11 media player does not have this option.

What playback programs do you recommend that will allow auto play to be selected?

1489709 2022-12-14 06:47:00 zqwerty, thanks but installing for the first time on Windows Pro is a no no. MS have blocked it because it is not a certified MS App. Tried to show I was a developer but again, no go. Bryan (147)
1489710 2022-12-14 06:52:00 If the properties of the folders your music is stored in is set to optimise for music and/or it's included in the music library then right clicking the folder should give you the option to play it in whatever your default music player is without doing it song by song.

Right click on your music folder - properties - customise - optimise this folder for music ... also tick the box for subfolders if that suits you.

VLC seems to go around this though and let you do it on any folder.

You should also be able to display the playlist in windows media player or VLC or whatever and just highlight the whole group of songs and drag and drop them into the playlist regardless of the above.

To Check Right clcik on This Computer - look for windows version, if it has S behind then change it over to standard and you can install any program you want.

Heres how support.microsoft.com

Have VLC but its not as good.VLC is not so great. Quite boring really.

I use mainly SMPlayer www.smplayer.info/ OR MPC-HC ( been around for years) https: Does several things VLC Cant.

And about 4-5 others depending on what I feel like.

For Music good ol Winamp. OR several others as well that will play whole folders. Including Directory Player

1489712 2022-12-15 10:13:00 I have used WINAMP for years and recommend it as the default audio player. blanco (11336)
1489713 2022-12-15 18:42:00 I use Media Player Classic, it was out of development for a few years but then the reins got taken up by a new crew and is as good as ever have it on SWMBO's Win11 pro too gary67 (56)
1489714 2022-12-15 22:13:00 I currently use VLC or Clementine (www.clementine-player.org)

No idea if the Windows version would work in Win11.

In any case Windows Media Player should be able to use playlists, surely. You may just have not found the feature...

1489715 2022-12-16 22:23:00 Wainui, have checked and my version shows as 22H2. There is no S mode. Trying to install Kodi 19.4 and have the same problem of "App not MS verified" so cannot load, surely there must be a way around this! I have gone to the MS Store and downloaded their App for Kodi but I do not think that it is the 19.4 version, seems to be an earlier version. Any ideas? Bryan (147)
