Apart from anything else, it would cost a fortune to re-educate (and confuse) the world - money we can't afford. And Aotearoa is not the maori name for NZ. It is a made up name. The maoris did not have a name for the entire country. And, as I have said before, why does TVNZ pronounce it Owtearoa?:groan: Bryan - it’s not that we are becoming more stupid, it’s just that the stupid among us are becoming louder. What else could we expect now that every government department is labelled with an unpronounceable name that fails to identify their purpose. Our cities and towns have been renamed so that when mentioned by TVNZ, we haven't the foggiest idea where they are talking about. And when a token effort is made at a dual nomenclature, it results in a name that is so long as to be unwieldy, just to placate the stupid minority. We got along very well for more than a few decades with the place and departmental names as they used to be. |

In the middle of the watch, I was appalled to see that a list of countries appeared that showed "New Zealand Aotearoa". Somehow even Microsoft has been gotten to by our muppets. | Bryan (147) | ||
