1489053 2022-10-24 22:02:00 It never ceases to amaze me how two different people can read an article and interpret it entirely differently.

For instance I interpret the article as saying “A small group of Loony Left Wing Loser’s, who are already $7M in debt, blow a $15M sponsorship over what a dead man said 40 years ago”.

Unbelievable. I suppose today they’ll glue themselves to something. That's exactly how I read it as well. :)

1489055 2022-10-25 10:03:00 Ok, the corporations/business-people are always correct, money talks, ethics be damned.

And "sports" these days are not businesses? Well, they fooled me.

1489056 2022-10-25 18:57:00 Interesting world, the player is now trying to back down from her stand on the sponsorship. ;)

1489057 2022-10-25 19:21:00 Then I see this. and my mind thinks, "Why do sponsors think that just because someone makes a lot of money in the entertainment world, they are actually intelligent? :punk

Adidas ended its lucrative partnership with the rapper formerly known as Kanye ‘Ye’ West over his offensive and antisemitic remarks, which drew widespread criticism from Jewish groups, celebrities and others on social media who said the German sportswear company was being too slow to act.

1489058 2022-10-25 20:29:00 Kanye West is bi-polar and always has been, it's well-known. He's always exhibited erratic behaviour. Coming out publicly with anti-Jewish rhetoric shows that he is completely out of touch with the real world and should be ignored not punished. He's mentally ill.

"German sportswear company was being too slow to act" notice this as it is valid in relationship to the netball thread from the other day.

In other words the German company is not allowed to have any connection to Kanye because he has been anti-semitic, just like the Australian CEO had made anti-indigenous/genocidal statements but this is not to be acted on, why the inconsistency?

1489059 2022-10-25 20:58:00 Wasn't one of the other reasons they withdrew because they wanted the sponsorship money to go to the actual game, not the bureaucratic monster that Netball Australia and other sports have come? Most of the money going on administration instead of players.

That reason, I agree with.

1489060 2022-10-26 04:02:00 Was Lang Hancock, actually wrong with what he said? Zippity (58)
1489061 2022-10-26 04:19:00 Of course he was. I don't think anyone is saying other than that. It was in an era when people said out loud what a heap of people think but don't say out loud these days. Racism will never go away, ever. It will just hide under the covers of society!

Another thing my philosopher son says that unfortunately these days, "if you're woke. you're broke" Pretty well fits the bill with what's happened with Australian Netball.
