1488992 2022-11-05 06:49:00 I've always liked Canon but not for any real good reason. Just tradition really. But none of mine ever broke. I have an A3 Brother MFC. Got it for free because the printer part didn't work, apparently. Never tried it. Scanner works fine though, which is all I wanted.

I don't like inkjets anymore, they're a waste of money. I print B&W on a laser for documents.

If I really want to print colour photos or something I'll do it at Warehouse Stationery or the library.

Black Brother Laser for day to day printing, Colour Brother Laser for times I want colour, toners NEVER dry up, in fact only changed the colour toners once in 4 years. ( try that with a inkjet) :p

The Black Laser has a scanner which will scan in colour.

Any photos pop down to the warehouse and print them off.

1488994 2022-11-06 01:25:00 Ah the laser printers cheaper on cost per page myth.
Nope, sorry. It's the same situation.

Cheap ones have toners that do bugger all pages and cost a fortune to buy new toners.
It's the same thing: Work out the cost per page before buying, whatever it is, ink OR toner.
And don't forget drums as well on Lasers.

1488995 2022-11-06 03:05:00 That may be but in all cases the toner doesn't dry up. When I used inkjet, I always had to buy new cartridges every time I printed and then waste half the ink with head cleaning!

You can get second hand office laser printers for cheap or free. Look for ones with low page count (so you know the drum etc has plenty of life). They have big toner cartridges with high capacity.

1488996 2022-11-06 07:22:00 And don't forget drums as well on Lasers. Still cheaper than inks. As Agent pointed out toners dont dry up, inks do if not used.

My own Colour Laser, Toners - 12449 Pages ( thats basically 25 REAMS) Drums @ 83% Remaining Fusers 47449 pages @ 95% Remaining.

This laser is at least 4 years old maybe even older, think its going to last quite some time at this rate.

1488997 2022-11-06 19:59:00 My next color printer will be an inktank one. Printer costs more but ink cheap. I use a color printer several time a week so no chance of heads drying up. I also have a Brother B/W laser for quick and dirty printing. As piroska said color lasers cost money to operate. paulw (1826)
1488998 2022-11-06 22:56:00 I haven't dfecided yet, but am thinking inkjet. Who other than Epson make inktank printers? As you will see I have an Epson XP-640, which has not been totally successful as I have frequently to clean the heads, and despite the test looking OK, frequently I get odd colour stripes accross the page. 1488999 2022-11-06 23:28:00 They all do. Canon, HP, Brother, and maybe others as well. Agent_24 (57)
1489000 2022-11-07 02:10:00 . As piroska said color lasers cost money to operate . COMPLETELY DISAGRRE with that .

I brought mine, just looked, just over 5 years ago, (its older than I thought - Picked it up for $275 @ Harvey Norman on a Special) they have only had the toners replaced once, so on the 2nd lot of toners from new . No other costs apart from the std paper and power . If it were an inkjet the inks would have dried up multi times .

I tried that too.
Epsons one. Claim of 3,600 pages in black / 6,500 pages in colour
It did 1300 pages the bloody liars.
