Straws were made of waxed paper and were usually put in a metal dispenser which you lifted up to expose the straws and you selected one or two. To my knowledge no one caught any malady from that way of dispensing straws. |

(BTW, compare life expectancy in the paper straw era compared with the plastic straw ages. Not all that can be credited to OSH and their infinite expenditure of other people's money.) |
