| 1489435 | 2022-11-25 07:34:00 | A few years ago whilst I was in Aus there was one of these Financial Crises. NZ did exactly as they have this time and promoted Stop Spending. Across the Tasman Aus started giving money away. Daughter with two children got hundreds of dollars to spend by their Government. Anyway, Aus were out of trouble in a few weeks whilst NZ were still in the S..t. Well, in a Bar that I was a regular I drank in I posed the question as to what goes on here. Having been confirmed Another Dumb Kiwi it was explained to me that it was all about GST (Government Salvation Tax) You see if the Government gives you a Dollar and you spend it, the Government gets 10% in Aus and $15% in NZ back by way of GST. Every time that $ changes hands, the Gov. Pocket 10% or 15% depending which Country you are in. So money changing hands is the answer not otherwise. Personally, I think NZ would be better off as a State of Australia. |

Must put those power share prices in the spread sheet tomorrow and see how they are doing, have not done that for some time . Should have bought some gold back in the 1970's at $300 and ounce, when told it would never fall in value, $1,750 . 00 in today's paper . But not as much as property, lol . lurking . Those power shares bought in 2013/2014 have increased by 336% or just over $20,000 . 00 . Add to that the dividend proceeds less tax as well . Hard to work those out over the last 9 years! . Don't think banks hand out overdrafts like they did before the big crash tho, they think property speculators are a better option now . lurking . |

OK, but at times they give tax cuts, handouts and wage orders in order to stimulate the economy! Which one is right? Ken ;) RBNZ does one thing but the central does their own things to get votes and goes against advice. |
