What else could we expect now that every government department is labelled with an unpronounceable name that fails to identify their purpose . Our cities and towns have been renamed so that when mentioned by TVNZ, we haven't the foggiest idea where they are talking about . And when a token effort is made at a dual nomenclature, it results in a name that is so long as to be unwieldy, just to placate the stupid minority . We got along very well for more than a few decades with the place and departmental names as they used to be . Great Post, right on the button . |

| 1489102 | 2022-10-29 00:00:00 | Nothing wrong with the old Dutch name. Very true. At least the rest of the world recognises the name. They won't know that made up name and it would cost a small fortune to educate them and for what reason? Just to placate a noisy minority? I think a better reason than that is required.:waughh: |

| 1489105 | 2022-10-31 07:21:00 | and.. can we please stop using maori names for govt departments. I have no idea what govt dept they are talking about when mentioned on the news. I suspect most wont know what govt depts they are when using the maori name , so what bureaucrat thought that would be a good idea. |

| 1489106 | 2022-10-31 07:48:00 | Exactly my point in #9. There seems to be a concerted effort to obfuscate the most essential names on the pretext that Maori is an official language. But when it leads to complete incomprehension of the probably 80% of New Zealanders who do not speak Maori, one wonders what nefarious plan is at work. Creating confusion has long been a strategy of conquest. So what is the secret agenda? Am I the only NZer who smells a rat? |
