1488763 2022-10-07 06:48:00 I have just bought a used WD 3TB red sata nas drive to use as extra storage desktop PC.

Problem being I've messed up the hdd recognised in disc management but unfortunately made the wrong choice mbr or gpt .

So at the moment In disc management its 2048.00GB Unallocated and (746.5GB Unallocated and can't access this drive to format

I was recommended to will have to wipe the drive and start again.. I would advise using mini partition tool

Tried that and you have pay to use it!

Is there another way to get access to the full 2.7 GB

1488765 2022-10-07 20:22:00 Minitool does have a free edition. The reason you got the have to pay for it could be you didn't tick use the free version and left the pre-ticked pro version trial.

Here's why you only got 2TB www.partitionwizard.com

With Mini tool or any other partition software simply click the drive and select wipe drive, then click again and format drive, that will format to the correct format.

1488767 2022-10-10 18:12:00 To quickly remove a partition table in the past I've just used "dd" in Linux to write random data to the drive for a few seconds, then quit. Works well. (Obviously not a way to destroy data unless you let it run on the whole drive). Agent_24 (57)
